Alpha Launches Media Modernization Practice and The Lab to Help Organizations Navigate the Future of Media Operations
A new customer innovation environment brings together Alpha’s broadcast and production expertise with hybrid, cloud and software-defined technologies to help organizations explore, test and validate what comes next.
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN. — 20th of October 2026 — Alpha, a technology integration and solutions partner with more than 30 years of expertise in broadcast and production, today announced the launch of its Media Modernization practice and The Lab, a new customer-facing environment designed to help organizations explore, test and validate the next generation of media operations.
The initiative expands Alpha’s long-standing broadcast and production expertise as media organizations navigate a rapidly changing technology landscape shaped by IP, software-defined infrastructure, hybrid and cloud architectures, automation, AI and distributed production models.
Rather than treating modernization as a mandate to move operations to the cloud, Alpha helps organizations determine the operating model that best supports their business, production and content objectives, whether on-premises, hybrid, cloud-based or a combination of approaches.
“Media organizations are under tremendous pressure to create more content, support more platforms and make better use of their people and technology without simply adding infrastructure every time demand increases. The opportunity is to rethink how media operations should work. Alpha helps customers understand what belongs where, why it belongs there and how to modernize without disrupting the operation they depend on today.”
Jeff Volk, EVP – Strategic Accounts, Sports and Live Events
Modernization Built Around the Operation
Alpha defines Media Modernization as the strategic evolution of the infrastructure, workflows, technology and operating models organizations use to create, manage, produce and distribute media.
The company’s approach focuses on content operations, production and content distribution, helping organizations modernize how media is ingested, managed, stored, accessed, produced, protected and moved across broadcast, streaming, digital and emerging distribution environments.
Across each area, Alpha begins with business and operational requirements rather than a predetermined technology platform.
Introducing The Lab at Alpha: See It. Test It. Prove It.
Central to Alpha’s Media Modernization strategy is The Lab, a new environment at Alpha’s Eden Prairie headquarters where customers, partners and Alpha experts can move modernization conversations beyond presentations and architecture diagrams.
The Lab provides a working environment where organizations can explore emerging technologies, experience workflows, conduct proofs of concept, validate interoperability, test integrations and evaluate operating models against real-world requirements before making significant technology commitments.
“This space is about turning possibility into evidence,” said Luke Potter, Cloud Solutions Manager. “Customers should not have to make major technology decisions based solely on presentations or theoretical architecture. We want them to experience the workflow, test assumptions and build confidence before they deploy it.”
The Lab will support customer demonstrations, proofs of concept, workflow design, engineering validation, solution testing, partner integrations, training and remote demonstrations, with future support for managed services demonstrations and ongoing customer enablement.
“Our space gives customers a practical way to validate how broadcast systems, IT infrastructure and cloud-based tools work together before they deploy,” said Ian Cobb, Sr. IT Architect.
Building on More Than Three Decades of Broadcast and Production Expertise
Alpha’s Media Modernization practice builds on more than 30 years of experience designing and integrating broadcast and production environments.
As production becomes increasingly software-defined and media resources extend across facilities and data centers, Alpha is bringing together broadcast engineering, workflow design, IT infrastructure and cloud expertise to help customers evolve at a pace appropriate for their operation.
“Modernization does not mean starting over. Our customers have significant investments in technology, workflows and people that work today. Our job is to help them determine what should stay, what should evolve and where new capabilities can create meaningful business and operational value.”
