Vision

Alpha recently completed a successful run with one of the most storied programs in college football. Deemed the crown jewel of University of Georgia football, a new $68-million indoor training and team facility is an all-out blitz against mediocrity—from adrenaline-inducing video displays and intelligent LED systems worthy of the country’s largest weight room to a cavernous indoor practice space awash in fourth-and-goal crowd audio. To make this culmination of a decades-long vision possible, Alpha pulled out all the stops. Seamlessly integrating proven and cutting-edge technologies to win the battle for the hearts and minds of recruits and their families. And further living up to the hype by introducing game-changing technologies for rabid “Dawg” alumni and fans at Sanford Stadium.

EXPERIENCE

The goal wasn’t to leave recruits wondering what hit them—an assault on the senses. Instead, project team members and client partners strove for moments players would want to relive season-after-season, and long after the college experience was behind them. The sheer scale of environments, in number and size, only added to the complexity and required project team members to weigh the unique challenges posed by variable light conditions and voluminous spaces.

POSSIBLE

Measuring in at over 165,000 square feet and costing north of $80 million, the new Bulldog weight room is the largest in the country and the centerpiece of the facility. Amenities abound but the technology is what has everyone on the edge of their seats—and benches. Filled with enough speakers and screens to display all the bulletin-board material imaginable, the experience is topped off with end zone-inspired, dual digital displays reigning high overhead. Plus, a computer-controlled LED lighting system mirrors that found in the stadium, allowing controllers to choreograph effects and colors (especially red, naturally). Another weapon in the ever-escalating race to win over new recruits and guests: A sprawling 10,574-square foot entry area and lounge greets visitors with scrolling digital displays touting recent players drafted by the NFL. Another experience that puts them on par with other top programs and has made them the hottest recruiting visit ticket in the country.

"Recruiting is the life blood of our program, and this new facility is the heart of it all. It’s insanely nice."
