Coushatta Casino Resort approached Alpha with a tall order: Help us introduce a true Las Vegas-style sportsbook venue, upgrade the casino’s overall digital signage, and overhaul our IPTV technology – while enabling us to continue using most of our existing hardware. Oh, and do it all in a way that cements our status as Louisiana’s casino technology leader. The challenge didn’t end there, however. Years of mixing technology solutions had left the casino with a digital signage and AV infrastructure that was unwieldy, hard to maintain, and in various stages of obsolescence. Old software, complicated controls, and disparate technology required more and more employee time to operate and reduced the system’s overall guest appeal. Coushatta needed one system to manage the casino floor sportsbook, and back-of-house content.
Realizing Coushatta’s vision demanded not just a deep understanding of the casino environment, but a formidable mix of resources and project management acumen. It also required a vision of our own, because without the ability to visualize success, it would have been easy to get lost in the project’s complexity and scale. For the sportsbook, Alpha consulted closely with Coushatta on digital signage placement and how to bring the venue to life with LED, sports ticker feeds and odds boards displays. Central to the digital signage and AV upgrade was an easy-to-use web browser interface that enabled staff to manage content on every screen in the casino. The solution also included proprietary table game signage; interactive odds board signage with touchscreen technology; a spectacular 30-foot, 1.5mm Planar LED video wall and custom sports ticker display; plus a 70-inch curved sports ticker outside the venue. Managing it all: a unique, low-cost system offering one-touch content switching, audio control and screen activation for every display.
The Coushatta Casino Resort made good on their reputation for bringing innovative casino technology to the state of Louisiana, including the comprehensive digital signage package that supports The Rez Sportsbook. Says Jonathan Cernek, chairman of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, “Every sports fan knows that watching a game you love while betting on the outcome is a special kind of thrill. Well, we’ve implemented state-of-the-art touchscreen technology to make thousands of betting opportunities available.” Echoing the chairman’s thoughts, Director of Slots Warren Davidson says, “With these improvements, our new sportsbook venue will impress our guests, with the bonus that our entire property functions more smoothly.”
